Australian made swings, manufacturing since 2000

Aussie Swings began manufacturing in Victoria in 2000 and has supplied swings to the Australian market ever since. We have manufactured at Holden Hill, South Australia since 2013.

We make replacement swings, seats, ropes and suspension components, supplied to:

  • Educational suppliers
  • Playground manufacturers
  • Kindergartens and schools
  • Toy shops
  • Councils
  • Residential customers

We have resellers in most states and we continue to take on new ones.

How our swings are made

Rope. High strength UV stabilised polypropylene, with a breaking strain in excess of 1,000 kg. Soft on hands and made to hold up to Australian sun.

Splicing. Every eye is hand spliced over a thimble to a written procedure, with four full tucks. Excess rope is trimmed, a metal clip is fitted, and the clip is guarded where it falls within reach of children's hands.

Rope loops are covered with clear PVC tubing to protect hands and feet.

Tyres are made from recycled tyres, pressure washed and painted. Sizes range from 57 cm to 65 cm in diameter.

Timber dowels for trapezes and ladders are 29 mm hardwood, sanded and sealed.

Hanging our swings

The preferred method is on pigtail hooks, available fixed or swinging. The swinging pigtail hook extends the life of the thimble — it moves with the swing, which means less friction and less wear at the suspension point.

Inspection and maintenance

Swings contain components that wear with use — ropes and moving parts in particular. Wear is normal, it is visible on inspection, and worn parts are inexpensive to replace.

Every order is supplied with a written inspection and maintenance guide setting out what to check, how often, and when to replace a component. It is also on our care page at any time. We stock replacement ropes and componentry for everything we make, including older units.

Quality and safety

Quality, safety and customer service are our priorities.

We hold the current Australian Standards for playground equipment, AS 4685.1:2021 and AS 4685.2:2021, and we manufacture with reference to them. Our products are not independently certified to those standards.

Operators remain responsible for ensuring that equipment is suitable for their site, correctly installed, and inspected and maintained in service.
